Why Jumping Spiders?

You may wonder why people would want to keep spiders, if you're reading this book you probably already like them and know they are entirely harmless to humans. Compared to tarantulas, who are more popular right now as pets, they are arguably more intelligent, tamable, and active.

That said, there are some disadvantages of jumping spiders. If you're looking for a cuddly pet, look elsewhere. Jumping spiders are fragile and can tolerate only limited handling. Poor handling may stress them and may even lead to their death.

They also require live prey, which means you'll have to keep a ready supply of things like crickets, flies, and roaches.
